We offer a range of aeration systems to suit different sizes of reservoirs.
Aeration systems help to maintain healthy levels of dissolved oxygen in water reservoirs, prevent the formation of oxygen-free zones and support natural processes taking place in the sediment.
Aeration is commonly used in breeding ponds, where the concentration of dissolved oxygen often decreases over time. Bottom aeration promotes the circulation, mixing and oxygenation of the water in the reservoir. This significantly inhibits temperature and oxygen stratification and limits the formation of oxygen-free zones at the bottom of the reservoir.
Avoiding an anaerobic environment is important for reducing phosphorus recharge from deposited sediments and improving the living conditions of aquatic organisms. Aeration also results in a reduction of sediment volume and an increase in mineralisation at the bottom of the accumulated biomass. The aeration system supports the microbial decomposition processes that naturally occur in the deposited sediment and improves the functioning and durability of the supplied beneficial bacterial strains. The optimal concentration of dissolved oxygen supports aerobic bacteria that consume the nutrients stored in the sediment.
The optimal number of aerators and their placement depends on the ruggedness of the reservoir and its depth. The diffused air flows from the aerator towards the water surface in a V-shape. The deeper the reservoir, the wider this shape can be, ensuring air circulation in a larger volume of water. For deeper reservoirs, the use of fewer aerators is sufficient.
